The Unexpected Surprise

One rainy night, Anne was sitting on her bed. It was the night of her birthday, but nobody had planned anything. She was upset that her family and friends couldn't be bothered to do anything. While Anne was busy questioning her love for them, the bedroom door slammed shut.

“What was that?!” Anne exclaimed. Her pulse was increasing dramatically, “Come on! Nobody does anything for my birthday and now this happens?!” she shouted.

There were noises coming from outside and she wanted to check it out, but she didn't have the guts to exit her room. She scrambled up to lock her room door. While she was at it, she saw shadows moving around. Her curiosity was killing her. She barged out.

Everything went silent, and the lights went out.

“H..h..hello?” Anne stuttered.

“Surprise!” many voices shouted, the lights turning on.

“AAAHHH!” Anne screamed, “What were you all thinking?!”

Her family and friends all replied innocently, “Aren’t you happy?”

Anne, trying her best to keep calm responded, “I am delighted that you planned something for my birthday; however, I am not so delighted that you gave me the scare of my life.”

The party apologized, “We’re sorry, we just wanted to give you a special day!”

She answered, sighing, “Fine, now where’s the cake? It’s been a long day.”
